Title: Excel date confusion.
Post by: renluop on November 25, 2011, 10:54:00 AM
I keep detailed records of my power consumption. In it the dates have been formatted as dd/mm/yy. Most have appeared correctly, but I noticed that one had come out as 02/03/2011 against my input for 3 feb 2011(missing year as it is currrent) of 3/2.

I have tried deleting/clearing the affeccted cells and reselecting the format I want. Nothing seems to work. Locale was showing English ( US), which I thought may have  caused the problem, and more likely after a Windows repair. That too did not cure matters.

Suggestions please! :'(

Ensure your regional language and keyboard are set to English UK .

From your open Excel spreadsheet, right click on the cell in question and select Format cells.
The Format Cells window is now displayed.
Under the Number tab / Category, select Custom and in the right pane, select dd/mm/yy
Click OK to apply the changes.

N.B. This may vary slightly depending on your version of Excel.

Just as a matter of interest, sometimes clicking 'once' on the format icon on the toolbar, then clicking in the cell you want to format will sometimes cure the problem also.
