Given the current exorbitant prices of external usb HDD drives rather than buying a new USB HDD I'm looking at the draw full of old ribbon connected HDDs removed and saved from long past PCs and wondering if it is worth buying a docking station so as to plug one of them into my new Panasonic TV as a HDD for the instant playback feature. Anybody tried it?

I've no experience of that, but it sounds a reasonable thing to do. The increased price of hard disks seems to be the result of the floods in Thailand, and it's going to be some time before cheap volume production is restored.

The Dixons Group are limiting purchases of (?certain) disks to two per customer.
