Title: DG834GT not always showing Device Name
Post by: pintosal on February 11, 2011, 05:05:47 PM
My Netgear DG834GT is running DGTeam FW.

When I look at the page for Attached Devices it lists the various PCs and Laptops, some connected by wireless and some on CAT5.

Some of the devices listed show names and others show Unknown, as on the attached.

Any ideas how to get them all to display their proper machine names in the Device Name column?

I think you have to give them names in one of the option pages.

Maybe even name them in host file with static IP's.

Any idea which option page?

In any case, static addresses won't work as I use DHCP

Although you use DHCP, you can still set up the router to always allocate the same number to each connected machine, based on its MAC address.

I don't have my Netgear instaled at the moment but I know the page exists as I always set up friendly names to the MAC address of each of them.

Hi

I tried using the Address reservation to change name from "UNKNOWN" but got message "MAC address already exists"

could not change it
