I haven't got a DVD drive on my computer. I don't want to copy, or burn DVD's at all ... I would however like to be able to watch them on my computer monitor. Is there an external Drive/player that I could consider ....and would a USB connection be sufficient ? I'm not at all au fait on these and would appreciate some advice. Many thanks :)

Yes, an external USB drive will be fine. I should imagine that installation will be plug-and-play, but a Windowsy person had better confirm that. :)

Perhaps something like this....Looks very compact and smart :)

Why not just swap out the internal drive assuming it is not a laptop.
You may want to look to see how much a blu ray reader would be.
Not to bad around £50:

Phil, I think the one you suggested is really for connecting to a TV, not a PC. Perhaps this one (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-SE-S084C-External-Slimline-Writer/dp/B002Q2FFTG/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1295004251&sr=1-3) would be more suitable?
