Title: Friday Chat
Post by: chrissie on August 01, 2008, 06:25:37 AM
Good morning all,

Sun shining again out there....(better than in here hehe) no breeze at the mo either so maybe it will be another hot day - bit too humid for me yesterday.

Thanks for your advice re the TV, went to John Lewis yesterday and they have a good selection PLUS a 5 year free warranty - now that's worth something methinks.  Haven't made me mind up about which set yet though they recommended this one....http://www.johnlewis.com/230478372/Product.aspx but it doesn't have the 1080p "thingy".  Ah well, plenty of time to choose, we still have the old set sort of working and the one that's carked it at the moment is (hopefully) going to be repaired today.

Hope you all have a brill day whatever you're going to be up to.

Chrissie

Sunny here but with a cooling breeze, better for doing those jobs like vacuuming and washing kitchen floors, not that I'm doing them mind, but better if I was. ;D

Anything corn fed and the prices are rocketing, chickens which used to be a good cheap meal for me and the cat are going out of my price range, I noticed eggs had gone up as well in the co-op yesterday. Fond of a corned beef hash, doing a Tesco order later, shall stock up on tins if they are still cheap.

I'm not a vegetarian but have tried some things, they're not bad actually but were always a little bit more expensive coming back in line with 'normal' food  I may give them a try again.

Having bought a Morrisons uncut farmhouse loaf for breakfast I was shocked/disgusted/appalled that when I removed the wrapper there was a piece of chewing gum stuck to the top of the loaf.I have phoned the store  manager and he said they will send someone to collect the loaf so they can pursue the matter.I have said I want compensating for this and he said we can discuss this once we have the loaf returned.I have taken photo's in case of any comeback.

not doin bad for eggs .... theres a couple of small farms in the village who sell 12 eggs for £1.40.  i just walk in their yards, chuck the money in a bowl and walk out with the eggs.  never see the owners.  the other farm has cool boxes out side their front door with large/extra large chicken eggs and duck eggs for the same price and we stick the money thru their letter box.

 :)

I reckon if you'd reported them to your local trading standards department, they'd be coughing up more than £25 and a meal for 2... btw is the former in the form of cash or a shopping voucher?

The only problem with reporting a situation like this to TS is that the shop gets done and you get nowt.
By all means report infringements such as filth , mice and other hygene infringements but I think it's best (and more profitable) to complain direct and get what you can for a small misdemeanour like this.

dave (Yorky)

ps.
Did anyone say  "White Rabbits, White Rabbits, White Rabbits" this morning before speaking to anyone else?
Or are you not supersticious?

Oh gawd Uncy, what a find!! Glad you got it sorted though and rec'd some compensation though nothing can make you feel better after experiencing that!

@ Dave.m.   I forgot to say white rabbits, but then it would be silly saying it to meself at 5.30 in the morning when other peeps are asleep  ;D

By the way.... I'm HOPPING mad.  Remember the television breaking down this week?  They arranged for repair guy to attend today... guess what.. yeh that's right, they didn't come.  Rang the firm (who had been asked to repair it) they said, "our sister firm is dealing with that"... rang them and of course...."we know nowt about this"  Scccrrreeeam!   They said they'd ring back - yep they did and this smart *rse guy said, "Hello, how are you today!!!"  this is at 4.45 this afternoon when they close at 5 pm and knew that they weren't coming out!!  So they have kindly  >:( arranged for their repair guy to come out TUESDAY...... I won't swear here cos I'm a laydeee.... but I am not happy and want to throw the tv at the guy's head!
