Hi folks,
I recently bought and set-up my Zyxel VMG1312-B10A. I've been using it as a modem/router for my ADSL. Everything has been going swimmingly.
I then bought a TP-Link Archer 900, to use as a wifi access point only and have the Zyxel running in bridge-mode as a modem. However I can't for the life of me make this work. I need help!
I followed the Zyxel instructions as follows:

Is this what I should be doing?

But... When I disable DHCP-Server checkbox on the Archer, I can no longer access internet through WiFi. It seems to disable the ability to connect to it. I can see my networks name on both my iPhone and my laptop but cannot log on to it, even though the Archer is now connected to the Zyxel with an RJ45 cable.
It's like the Zyxel and the Archer aren't talking to each other.
Any ideas what I'm missing?

When you put the Zyxel into bridge mode it becomes a modem and needs a router, but you configured the router as a WAP and the WAP needs a router. So you’re missing a router.

Okay, so judging by your comments I'm doing things correctly with the Zyxel. It looks like I'm configuring the Archer incorrectly.
So if I want the Archer to just act as the router/wifi access point, how should it be configured?

you need to Enable the DHCP Server on the Archer.

I still can't get this to work. It's driving me insane.
I did make some progress: After enabling DCHP via the TP-Link UI, I can now connect to the wifi channels (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) being broadcast from the Tp-Link but I cannot seem to connect to the internet.
I set the Zyxel in bridge mode. I've put my internet credentials in to the TP-Link internet settings, to connect via PPPoE.

You have connected the zyxel to the wan port of the tplink haven't you¿

Nope. The RJ45 is in port 4 of the TP-Link.

You need to connect the ZyXEL any LAN port to the WAN port of the VR900.

The wan port is port 4
You should factory reset the Tp link and use the wizard to set it up as a wireless router

May bad. bilbokitz & banger were right, I wasn't connected to the WAN port.
Got it working now.
I want to turn off the wireless broadcast from the Zyxel but I seem to be unable to connect to its UI now the internet is working. Is this because the Archer is in the way?

Archer: 192.168.0.1
ZyXEL: 192.168.1.1

Connect a patch cable from ZyXel Lan port to Archer LAN port then see if you can access the ZyXel. Failing that access it by Wifi I would leave it on.

Run another cat5 from Zyxel to lan?
Give Zyxel a 192.168.1.* address?

I changed the Archer IP address to something different and I still can't connect to the ZyXel.
It's not a biggie, I just thought I'd switch the wifi broadcast off so devices don't try to connect to it. I'm sure I could connect it by wire to a laptop, but I can't be bothered right now. I'm just glad I got bridge mode working with the Archer.
Currently I'm on ADSL. If I wanted to switch to VDSL, would I need to make changes to any of the settings in either the ZyXEL or the Archer?

If that is the Archer VR900, why don't you just use the modem that it has to make the DSL connection?

As I learnt on here, if I need to mess around with the router I don't need to interrupt the DSL connection.
Also the VMG1312 seems to be a popular choice for modem stability, but not so great for routing/wifi.
