Title: Upload sync for ADSL1 on 20CN
Post by: jelv on March 05, 2015, 11:42:34 AM
I'd like some confirmation of upload sync for ADSL1 on 21CN - specifically when it's provisioned as ADSL1 and not when forced to ADSL1 by the users router settings.

1. Does upload still sync in 32kbps steps as it does on 20CN (an example of someone on ADSL1 over 21CN with an upload sync which is not a multiple of 32 would be good)? It has been suggested to me that you can tell if someone is not on ADSL1 (20CN or 21CN) if their upload sync is not a multiple of 32.

2. Is uncapped upload on 21CN ADSL1 limited to 832kbps?

1. No idea

2. Doesn't appear to be. I've seen instances of 896 and a few others I've probably forgotten. It was a bit of a *wtf* moment.

3. I don't know for sure but if you see the vendor chipset is IFTN 0X71C8 (precisely, not 71C6 for example) I believe this to be a reliable indicator of a stunted WBC port.

1. Anyone else any ideas regarding the stepped upstream syncs?

2. @boost Was that where the service was provisioned as ADSL1 or was it provisioned as ADSL2+ and it synced as ADSL1 due to being set to that in the router?

I think the line rates, upstream and downstream, in integral multiples of 32kbps is a feature of ADSL1, which will be the same irrespective of how it is selected, 20CN, 21CN, provisioned as ADSL1 or selected by the end user.

Here (https://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,125949.0.html) was a 21CN line provisioned as ADSL1 with 864k upstream. Another with 928k upstream (https://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,104593.0.html) on ADSL1, provisioned that way.
