Title: Internet Explorer 10
Post by: sheddyian on March 16, 2013, 02:26:54 PM

I usually use Chrome browser on Windows XP and Windows 7, but recently noticed that Microsoft have released Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7, so thought I'd try it out.

The main shock is that it feels faster than Chrome!  It's very snappy, and pages load and render faster than they do in Chrome.

My PC is hardly top of the range, it's a dual core 3Ghz Intel with 4gb RAM.  Watching HD video (eg from here : http://redlettermedia.com/ (http://redlettermedia.com/)) in Chrome really taxes the machine, the video struggles to keep in synch with the audio and the CPU usage runs at 100%.

I blamed this on my PC not being up to it, but when watching the same video in Internet Explorer 10, it's lovely and smooth, totally in synch and CPU usage hovers around 60%!

So, I'm very impressed!

That said, in another Kitz thread there's talk of the HTML5 broadband speed test http://speedof.me/ (http://speedof.me/), and I found that it produces ludicrously low results for my line compared to the results given in Chrome.  So perhaps not everything is quite sorted yet.

Although Ive not upgraded yet - I mostly use FF & chrome -  I have heard from elsewhere that ie10 is much better than its predecessor.

IE10 is faster for sure but the IE9 dll wrapper doesnt work on it so if using it stuck with blurry fonts.

I've been using it for a while now on W7x64 and am happy with it.
I did try it out for a while via W8 so had a good idea of what to expect.

Due to my work I try to stick with IE as my default, only using other browsers if I hit problems or need to investigate something for a client in another browser. I have to say that the number of web sites that used to send me to a non-IE browser to check for oddities or just plain make them work properly (usually very slow or incomplete page loading) has plummeted now I use IE10.  :)

Yep - IE10 on all my W7 64-Bit machines is very fast, stable and problem free.
To me, it seems to be faster than both Firefox and Chrome.
