Title: Oh dear......
Post by: AdrianH on November 14, 2011, 03:04:16 PM

So there I am in the local shop and moving round the aisles in front of me is a local mum and her daughter of about 13.

Mother is picking over items trying to find lower prices and looking for sell by date reductions. The basket has very little in it and from the conversation it sounds like someone is having a hard time feeding her kids. As she kept picking up ready meals and and pre-cooked stuff I kept thinking "why don't you buy the loose ingredients and cook a meal?"

Further on it's cakes and sticky buns "cos that'll fill em up" but they didn't have enough cash to buy cakes for everyone .... at this point daughter volunteers to go without as she isn't too hungry.

One could have been feeling that someone should help her out to at least make sure those children get a meal but there at the check out after the pennies are eventually scraped together for the items in the basket from the back of her purse comes £15 which is used to buy lottery scratch cards!  :-X :-X

Whilst one can cringe at the priorities there, there is also misguided logic as well. In the end the woman used the money wisely.
