Title: CBT Fitted to Pole but I'm Removed from Build.
Post by: drevilbob on April 18, 2023, 10:02:41 PM
Sorry for hijacking this,

Basically Openreach have fitted a CBT to my telephone pole but it seems I've been removed from the build according to the openreach website.
Has everyone experienced this before?

Such an event is rare but has been known to occur when the cost to provide has suddenly rocketed due to the need for, say, extra civil engineering work. It's not the end of the world, just a delay, as often such builds are picked up in the next round of funding.

How long is the cable between the pole and where it's attached to your house?

It's fairly short less than 15m or less so not a long run to be fair. I was thinking it was an error on openreach's side as the proceeding pole further down the street connected to ours is still in build.

Wouldn't be the first time there was an error.  You probably have to wait for the other pole to show live before being able to really chase this up.

This isn't the first time this has happened to me, I've had to go through the Exec complaints team before to actually get it sorted seems it'll be that route again.

I was pleasantly surprised myself how smooth my migration to FTTP went.  Though that may be partly because I didn't mind they removed my landline, despite it still having an active POTS service.   I had deliberately kept my landline with BT and broadband independent to it, to avoid issues changing broadband over the years.  Had I wanted to keep that line it would have been a PITA, but it made migrating to VoIP a whole lot easier in the end.

I guess after a while you just expect things to not be entirely smooth and plan accordingly.

That and when the local council run alt-net for FTTC (before Openreach put us in the plan) went bankrupt and Openreach had no procedure to migrate back to their network as database said no.  That sure was fun times.

Does the CBT have a number on it, do you have a postcode that you can share?
