had rain tonight and my broadband speed droped to 4500kbps from 7500kbps i take it is normal for this to happen

Are you talking about your connection speed or your download speed? If the connection speed has dropped, then it could be the result of water getting into a cable joint somewhere, and this is fairly common although it shouldn't happen if the joint is properly sealed.

Hi
As Roseway as said if your connection speed drops due to the rain then looks like a line PROBLEM this is NOT to be expected . You will need to carefully note the symptoms to be sure it is rain causing it and not say wind problems . If its just rain then the fault will probably be where there are joints . Does it affect your telephone ?
Regards jeff

Its fairly normal for your sync speed to vary yet still often see the same SNR Margin. The sync speed you achieve depends on your real SNR (http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/linestats.htm#SNR). If after a resync your SNR Margin (http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/linestats.htm#SNR_Margin) then its likely that your Target SNR (http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/linestats.htm#target_SNR) is 6dB.
Most routers only display the SNR Margin... and whilst the 3 figures are related, they arent the same thing - see the relevant explanations in the links.
As mentioned previously, does this only affect your adsl, or is it also noticeable on voice?

its been raining alnight and most of the day

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 7712 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 6500 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1991 kbps

Try a quiet line test - Dial 17070 and select option 2

That one there looks to be more a problem with actual throughput rather than a problem on the line?
that was clear no noise
Thats a shame its often easier to get a voice fault fixed than an adsl one :/
