see here for a discussion on it (http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,18036.0.html)
this newer firmware was rolled out some months ago, then rolled back around the time G.INP rollout was halted
it was noticed a couple weeks ago that it has started again, though I'm still on 204
-
I'm not sure it was rolled back, Ive been on 206 for some time now, OK the rollout may have stopped and restarted but I dont believe it was ever rolled back.
Stuart
-
Still on 204 here.
-
same still on 204 here too.
-
I dont think it was ever rolled back. iirc Chrys was one of the first to get it at the beginning of the year and has remained on it. There's a couple of others too such as tickmike. Interestingly some of those were the ones who didnt actually get g.inp.
It just ground to a standstill during the ECI G.INP fiasco, but seems to have been restarted again since Openreach decided they were going to delay re-rolling out what ever went wrong with G.INP.
Had a few problems here since x206 was rolled out which may or may not be related, but just after the update I got the thousands of CRC and E/Secs which were nothing to do with me and obviously at either the cab or further back. During this time my connection was unusable for the day because so many packets were being dropped. DLM punished me for this despite it not being my line.
We also had a massive outage a few days later when I couldnt even access the internet for ~12hrs.
-
When I first saw this thread, I noticed my eci cabinet was showing 0xb206
After yesterdays resync it's now showing:
DSLAM/MSAN type: IFTN:0xd086 / v0xd086
Also my upstream sync has dropped from 1.6Mbps down to 0.5Mbps.
???

This is on FTTC right?
-
Thats a much bigger bump in version number than the b204 to b206
Lets hope this is a first stage of g.inp preparation work.
-
Well it's not good on my long line, so far I've tried 3 resyncs and the upstream has improved to 754 Kbps. ???

Looks like it's the new upstream power of only 4.4dB causing my low speed, previously it was around 6.8dB. :(

Previously on 0xb206, was DS and US power the same?
-
on 206 I think the US power reported is bugged.

So, my downstream power level has gone up by a fair amount and so has my max d/s sync.
Note: I have my d/s sync capped at 21 Mbps via the "--maxDataRate" command. It will be interesting to see what my uncapped speed is but I'm reluctant in case I get DLM'd.
-
your upstream has been cut to about 1/3rd of what it was before. Don't fancy that firmware update!
-
Is the change in upload not caused by the upload INP increasing from 3 to 3.5?
Also looking around it seems to be an old firmware???
Looking at DSLstats this morning, it does seem DLM has turned on interleaving. :-X
Jeez.

I went to 206 last night from 204. No significant change to stats
Tony
-
Is the change in upload not caused by the upload INP increasing from 3 to 3.5?
No, it was the downstream INP that increased to 3.5, after a resync it's back to 3.0 still with poor upstream speed.
Interesting find, the year old report of that firmware.
-
I have gone from 204 to 206.
No difference in performance apparent.
-
DS Power reduced fro 11 to 7, although no significant changes as a result. US Power increased slightly.
-
I called BT yesterday, the support guy didn't know anything about the cabinet software change. He did however say he would "reset the network and after 3 to 4 days, a maximum of 7 days, and my speed would be back to normal" I don't know what he meant by "reset the network" but this morning the router re-synced and interleaving has been removed.
It's either a coincidence or the ISP support can request the DLM be reset. :o
Upload speed is still bad. >:(

I think the DLM reset was a coincidence, unless ISPs are now able to request Openreach to perform DLM resets remotely.
-
Thought it might be of interest but when Openreach were fault finding my cab recently and were here at my house they carried out some port swaps at the cab end but when the engineer tried to do a dlm reset back at my house he could not get it to go through using the dial in option they seem to do. He then called the operations centre & they did perform a remote dlm reset so openreach must be able to do it at that level if the engineer is unable to get it to work.
-
Yes, the Openreach engineer rang HQ from my house when he did a DLM reset. They had to physically disconnect and reconnect the port I was connected since at first the sync remained the same.
The ISP can't do it remotely, it has to be passed to OR and requires an engineer visit to do so. Unless things have changed.
What was the problem with your line?
-
It wasnt the line in the end. Duff tails in the cab. They were trying to figure out what the problem was. Has been fine for 26 days but now the ds snrm is at 4.7 from 6.8..attain down some 6-7mb..something has changed yesterday :-\
