Title: Roxio Hard Drive Watcher 12 service
Post by: renluop on December 16, 2010, 07:55:16 AM
Can any one enlighten me what this is and what it does? I have Roxio Creator 10 and the computer came with Roxio Burn as part of the Dell package, but cannot for a moment think why my hard driver needs a watcher.

All that does is watch folders on your hard drive for additions or subtractions so that Media Manager can be updated.
You can turn it off without any adverse effects.

That sounds good: when I was interrogating Event vwr on the Restore trouble  it came up as an error report.

Wanting to turn it off is one thing though, doing it is another. Search and ye shall not find ;D

I used the search engine and also looked through programs Roxio Creator and Roxio Burn but no luck.
Where is it located, please?

It may be lurking as a start-up process or as a service.

Go start>run and type in msconfig  and click ok.
When that opens have a look in both the start-up tab and the services tab .......if you see something suspicious in either of them, uncheck the box and that should do the trick.
It may not show as that precise name so you are possibly looking for that name or something similar/indicative of that name.
