This just a note to anyone who got a Quad Copter Phantom Drone, Well a Very good friend of mine lost his £350 pound last night and we have had search partys out all day and no luck finding it.
It Looks like someones W-FI router at 2.4 GHZ has taken contol of it and sent it on a journey so my advice is to update the DJI Phantom firmware before you fly it.

the day before it was lost he took it up 800 feet I couldnt even see it and he sent the go home signal by turning off the controller and came down and landed all by itself in the same position it launched from, it's an incredible piece of technology but there must be a flaw on the onboard 2.4GHZ receiver .

Talking of drones, did anyone see that drones could become a familiar sight if Amazon release a 30 min delivery service?

:D Kitz it kind of worrys me when these things can reach a hight of 1000m (3280 feet), bird/owl strikes are bad enough for aviation jet engines imagine a drone strike, me thinks the UK/other Govnerment will put a damper on this hobby with a Licence required to use this kind of product in the to distant future :(

I hadn't realised those things could get so high! That guy really pushes his to the limit doesn't he? I just watched a couple of his vids and he has some fantastic horizon and above cloud views.
If they are going to become more readily available and in use, I agree that something will have to be put in place, there is an obvious danger to aircraft, as well as security and privacy issues I guess.
