I presume its 3 times the price I paid because it has twice as many ports as mine ???????????

8 ethernet ports  - yeah, that's not right.

It cant be right, theres not enough room surely for another 4 ports. The specs are very unclear

Quote
- ADSL network interface for BT Broadband x 1
- RJ45 Gigabit WAN interface for BT Infinity x 1
- RJ45 Ethernet LAN ports x 4
- Gigabit Ethernet x 1
- 10/100 Base T Ethernet x 3
- USB 2.0 master socket x1

Theres routers Id much rather have than a crippled 10/100 HH  for £110.

Am I right in thinking that on the standard HH4, there are 4 x RJ45, one of which is Gigabit and the other three are 10/100?

If so, that spec is just a bit confused, and should be reading

RJ45 ethernet LAN ports x4
OF WHICH
Gigabit Ethernet x1
10/100 Base T Ethernet x 3

But anyway, yeah.  Why would you buy it from PC World?

I'm off there tomorrow to pay £20 for an IEC power cable  :-X

And now there's the Home Hub 5 too, which I believe has 4 GigE ports and 802.11ac WiFi.

Got some 5's waiting to be picked up from stores on Monday. Will have a look-see then, but am sure the spec will be all over the tinterweb by now ??  :)

Ah sorry pal ........... that was just me making assumptions about the spec being 'out there' somewhere. I don't have any links I'm afraid, as it's not BTo equipment, as such. Sorry.

Perhaps, one may 'disappear' and be found shortly later at a certain sheep's home, after it has been connected and tried out :).

Just joking :)

Ha ha, that just may happen.

On a serious note, I don't think the powers-that-be would mind their broadband engineers road-testing the kit, themselves ?? They haven't in the past.

As most readers of this forum will know though, I don't have a cracked modem as it is now, so I don't know what I could bring to the table even by road-testing it myself ?? I fortunately, can monitor the connection via the DLM. It's not as in-depth as BE/Eric/B*Cats scripts, or anywhere near as pretty. But, it paints a picture and it's all good.  :)

I think pcworld have made an error.

"For broadband through your phone line
Perfect for connecting up to 4 devices
8 Ethernet and 1 USB port"

so they have a device with 8 lan ports than can connect 4 devices :)

as for hh5.

spec.

4 gigabit lan ports
dual band wireless AC
wan port
integrated vdsl modem (same chipset as ECI according to another post I seen on here).
ipv6 support.
smart wireless/FON etc.

I was a beta tester for it and for an isp device it is pretty good.

also on the hh5 the vdsl stats can be viewed as follows.

sync speed
attainable speed
snrm
attenuation

I did try to attach some pics but they all over the 200kB limit, tommorow when I am less tired I will put them on webspace instead or something.  I should be fine to now as I no longer under NDA.

yeah the hh5 is the first dual band I have used and I learnt something which kinda annoyed me.

android phones are capable of 40mhz wide channels but they will only use them on the 5ghz band so my phones connect at 72mbps on 2.4ghz even if the router is 40mhz enabled and 150mbps at 5ghz.

Thats why my laptop was slower on the hh5 as on the asus router it connected using 40mhz, the hh5 uses 20mhz to be polite to other 2.4ghz networks.

Phones were slower on the asus 2.4ghz as forcing 20mhz only.

But then phones faster on 5ghz as able to use 40mhz.

The HH5 is out in the wild already, this user got connected yesterday with one. (http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/fibre/t/4275850-re-superfast-north-yorkshire.html)
