I'm going to be buying a new usb charging cable as the one for my phone as frayed at one end i.e. I can see the inner strands of the cable.
I am going to buy one from Amazon. There are usb cables and usb charging cables.
Is there any visible indicator that a usb cable is capable of charging?
I'm under the impression that there is a difference between usb cables, or do I have that wrong and any usb cable can charge?

You need to know whether your phone needs a Micro-B or USB-C cable!

They can all charge but the ones branded as charging cables tend to use larger conductors to guarantee a minimum current carrying capacity for full-speed charging.
