Hi,
Can anybody access these 2 sites:
https://wist.echo.nasa.gov/wist-bin/api/ims.cgi?mode=MAINSRCH&JS=1
http://www.gdem.aster.ersdac.or.jp/index.jsp
For the first one nothing happens - sometimes I get a timeout. Else a message about DNS error.
For the second one I get this message:
The page isn't redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
cookies.
Cheers,
Peter

Hi Peter, I have no problem with the first link with opera.
The second on gives me the page in the attachment, but I can't get any further.

The first link works OK here, although it's slow. The second one results in the following error message:
The page isn't redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.
Using Firefox 7.0.1.

I obtain exactly the same results as Eric for both URLs, although I am not using Firefox with its leading edge version.

Thanks for trying. I still can't get to the first link.
I seem to remember reading somewhere (maybe on kitz, maybe elsewhere) that the US Government blocks some IP addresses from accessing their servers - and wonder if my IP address is on that list.
Cheers,
Peter

That's a possibility, I guess. You could try connecting via a proxy site.

Found another link to the data - via http://www.ersdac.or.jp/GDEM/E/4.html
And by coincidence there was a message that a new version of the ASTER DEM data was released today so my OSM maps will be even better
once I've got the new data installed @ http://pgg999.co.uk/walks.html
Cheers,
Peter
