I have just knowed that my ISP changed DSLAM. From that time I have above 2 Mbps slower synchronization rate. I've always had about 18000 kbps however now I have only about 15000 kbps. Day before my ISP changed DSLAM I had 4951 kbps synchronization rate.

At that day my ISP restored default profile and I got 20551 kbps.

Unfortunately next day my ISP changed DSLAM and I have only about 15000 kbps.

My attenuation is slight lower but synchronization is also lower.
I've noticed also gap between 411-477. What is happening?
Below there is SNR on particular tones.

I've long waited for your reply.
http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,13029.0.html
My ISP say my bit-loading and SNR on particular tones is normal. I've heard it is bad.
Im sorry but atm I really dont have time to look at this. Ive tried in the past to help but not sure if my answers have sunk in.
By all means bump in the thread, but Ive asked in the past Please dont PM me or my mods if I dont answer.
Perhaps someone else would be kind enough to pick this up for me and have a look to see if theres anything new here.
Cheers.

Could you please stop creating new threads on similar issues and just add these issues to one thread? It keeps the forum much cleaner and it makes it much easier for people in similar situations to you to find the help they need.
In addition, could you please stop sending me (and others) PMs about your issues. It won't get them solved any faster. If you have problems, please just post in the necessary thread. PMs are for issues between two members, not for getting help on an existing thread.
Thank you.

Since its now come to my attention that you are PMing several forum members, this really is not acceptable!
Take it as a warning that if it happens again, I will have no alternative but to use moderation powers.
Ive requested several times in the past that you don't do this. Members here spend a lot of their own free time trying to assist people. We give our time freely for no reward, but it gets tiresome for members to repeat the same things over again. Its also not gone un-noticed that the same questions have also been asked on other forums around the globe where you've also not taken heed that most of what you see is normal aspects of how adsl works.
You have been given far more leeway due to the fact that there may be lingual and autistic problems and we have tried to be helpful where we can, but you tend to focus on the small things rather than look at the broader picture. This deters others from trying to help if they feel they are wasting their time for no thanks.
You may have a (new) problem with that gap in tones. However that looks remarkably like a guard band similar to what Be/o2 use (http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/adsl_technology.htm#tones_not_used) - its in a similar frequency range. If your ISP has installed a new DSLAM then its possible that this is their doing. Have you asked them? If not it could be local interference from a radio station/transmitter.

What is bad with PMing? On polish forums people doesn't claim about PMing. I think my last PMing you is really acceptable because I could suspect you missed the thread because I've waited a long. I've asked my ISP but they said me it is typical bit-loading for long line (about 1.2 KM distance from exchange). They encouraged me I check SNR on tones on other ADSL2+ lines.
I check SNR for particular tones recently because I've found a hole in my router. My router doesn't have telnet.

1. Because Ive asked you in the past not to do so.
2. It puts pressure on people to answer when they may not have the time to do so.
3. We are volunteers who help and dont like it when people demand an answer
4. It says so in the bottom of my signature
5. Its considered rude.
6. I feel like the posts are a stuck record repeating the same things
7. Its damn annoying when someone gives you an answer, then you ask the same thing of someone else.
8. In the past youve been given answers by some of the best people who know about technology and routers for free
9. Because Im tired and have a zillion other things to do than answer the same questions.
10. Youve crossed the line.
----
Asbos told you in the past their is no way you are going to be able to get your router to telnet without following his suggestions which you ignored.. so you go asking elsewhere. Not once have you said thank you to anyone for all the time and efforts and patience they put into answering your questions.
Go buy another router if its that important..... or just take a break and enjoy your connection.. or take a break away from the PC.
Push my button once more and you will be taking a permanent break away from this forum.

I'm sorry. English is not my first language and thereby I can make impression I'm rude. I really thank you for all help.

I'm not ignored this suggestion. I've tried it and it doesn't work. However I can without telnet check "adsl info --stats" and similar. Following there is screenshot how is it possible.

We all realise that. :)

That is a very clever tip. Thank you for showing it.

Thank you for your help. Your hints are turned out to be helpful. I understanded. about some things that they are normal ADSL2+ conditions. However now I have a another problem.
Is it possible that wide gap between 411-477 tones is line fault and not radio transmission? In my town there isn't any radio broadcasted. I'd like to complain my ISP about these interferences. However technician consultant say me my bit-loading is typical for ADSL2+ on long lines. He pleased me to compare my SNR with SNR on other ADSL2+ connections.
Perhaps my Hlog will be helpful to diagnose.

hlog is based on your attenuation and the figures it looks normal.
A quick scan down the column shows the normal increases youd expect to see on any line. I dont see any evidence of a bridge tap line fault from those figures.
The block on SNRm looks remarkably like a dslam configurement like you'd see with some UK providers such as Be/O2, who supposedly at one point stated it was blocked to do with maritime transmission. However I notice a slight dip in snr both before and after which could point to radio/EMI interference being the cause. Got any amateur radio hams near you? Any radio mast/transmitters?
-
Your line looks in most respects, very good. I don't think you are going to get much better without moving closer to the exchange.
You're at the point now where changing things will make maybe 0.1% of a difference or it may even make the connection worse.
I'd honestly just leave it alone and be happy with what you've got. Your connection is better than most of the UK (and the world for that matter). It's certainly much faster than mine :).

Thank you for checking my Hlog. I'm delighted my line characteristic is good.

However I have about 3 Mbps less than I had until recently. Besides, I like to gain new knowledge about ADSL technology and my curiosity caused slight improvement of my service, for example my ISP changed pair and my troughput became about 2 Mbps raised. I'm not complain rather i'm only curious about real possibilities of my line.

I think there aren't any radio transmission near me. Is line fault excluded as cause of these interferences? Recently my ISP changed DSLAM. Is it possible they did something bad with cables? What can I report to my ISP?
What about my QLN

There is an English saying that 'a picture is worth a thousand words', so I have plotted your Hlog data and the graph is attached, below.
I cannot see anything to be a cause for concern. I make the comment that the undulations (ripples) seen from just below tone 100 to just below tone 400 look characteristic of a pair which is made up separate sections of cable with different 'poundage'. (Different diameter conductors, in different sections.) However I repeat that it is not a defect and it is nothing to be concerned about. :)
Edited to add: I now see that you have provided the QLN data for your line. So I also attach that graph. From it we can see that there are no discrete radio transmissions visible just that there is a very 'broad hump' of background 'mush' from around tone 60 to tone 380. My suspicion is that it is just the normal 'atmospheric radio background' for that frequency range in Poland. Once again, there is nothing that your ISP can do.
-
>> Is it possible they did something bad with cables?
Highly unlikely to be anything to do with the cables.
>> Recently my ISP changed DSLAM.
This is a strong possibility if the dslam has been configured to ignore certain tones.
This isnt too unusual - see "DSLAM Specific Tones" (http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/adsl_technology.htm#tones_not_used). This is done to prevent interference from radio transmissions, such as gov maritime frequencies which may overlap tones in the region you are seeing. Your ISP should know if this is the case.
>> I think there aren't any radio transmission near me. Is line fault excluded as cause of these interferences?
To be honest looking at the SNR stats you posted this would be the most likely explanation. The decline just before and after the blocked tones gives the impression that it is EMI/radio interference. I can not say this for certain, it just looks like it to me.. call it a hunch as being the most likely reason but I have no evidence to prove it.
Proving it could be difficult because it could come from various sources. Its not a line fault, nor is it anything an ISP can do anything about because it falls outside their jurisdiction. It could come from possible sources. Amateur radio hams is a possible one. Other reasons we have seen is a faulty neighbours TV set or treadmills (the running machines) giving off EMI. Unfortunately you may be on your own when it comes to tracing these type of faults. In the UK we may be able to fight to get BT to call in a REIN specialist, but Im not sure if anything like that is available where you are. All I can do is direct you to the REIN page (http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/rein.htm) which has helped many in similar situations who have EMI problems.
I could be wrong, but because those frequencies are so very close as to what is used for maritime and amateur radio enthusiasts, if it was me, Id be wondering if anyone local was broadcasting. Does anyone in your area have a stonking big radio aerial?

Thanks b*cat.. our posts crossed and I didnt see your graphs until Id finished my post. I will have to have a look again in a minute as I need to rescue something from the oven (smells burning) :( :(

Thank you for your reply. How do you plot the graphs? I can't do it. Could you look at my Hlin and Hlins?

I don't know whether on previous DSLAM these tones was used, I has not checked it. On new DSLAM I have always double synchronization establishing. It seems like following. Is it related to unused tones? I'm curious about cause of this strange synchronization process.
user crit kernel: ADSL G.994 training
user crit kernel: ADSL G.992 started
user crit kernel: ADSL G.992 channel analysis
user crit kernel: ADSL G.992 message exchange
user crit kernel: ADSL link down
user crit kernel: ADSL G.994 training
user crit kernel: ADSL G.992 started
user crit kernel: ADSL G.992 channel analysis
user crit kernel: ADSL G.992 message exchange
user crit kernel: ADSL link up, interleaved, us=1225, ds=15678
Perhaps results of two subsequent SNR tests during very short period of time (less than minute) will be helpful.

I've briefly looked at your Hlin & Hlins data but they are just different representations of the Hlog data. To be honest, I wouldn't know the best way to plot Hlin nor Hlins. :D
As for plotting the other graphs, I used a modified version of the 'bash' script that we wrote a few years ago. I have attached a copy, as a ZIP format file, below. Of course if you do not use a Linux kernel based OS, then it will be no use to you. :-\
-
Thank you for script. I use Linux. I think it will be helpful.
Moment ago I've edited my post. What is my probable distance from exchange looking at my Hlog? My router shows attenuation either 24.5 dB or 25.0 dB for download and 14.8 dB for upload.
INP: 0.00 0.00
PER: 16.07 16.23
delay: 0.12 0.24
OR: 61.72 10.84
Bitswap: 4440 0
I've once noticed short time after synchronization's establishing SNR margin either 0 dB either 112 dB. What was happening? After about 20 minutes I got disconnect. Furthermormore, there are always other SNR margin for upload during first 30 minutes of new synchronization, for example immediately after I get new synchronization, I have only 4.0 dB snr margin for upload. After 30 minutes it's very stable 6.6-6.8 dB.

Ok rescued my ham joint for tomorrow :)
Looking at the graphs, hlog..confirms my previous post & as B*cat says - looks like background mush.
I hadnt seen the QLN details, but I cant really see anything glaringly obvious in it. It would be expected to follow the trend of the snr which to me is more informative.
After having seen the graphs, then Im more convinced that it isnt a physical line fault and not something that you will be able to do much about. It certainly isnt ISP related. Even if it was a radio-ham, there would be little you may be able to do to stop him broadcasting :/
>> Could you look at my Hlin and Hlins?
No point Im afraid they are in someway related to attenuation, but other than that we dont know anything useful about their results. Its highly unlikely any useful interpretable data can be obtained from them.
>> On new DSLAM I have always double synchronization establishing.
As weve said in the past we dont know.. its possibly a 'feature' of your router.
>> Is it related to unused tones?
NO!
>> Perhaps results of subsequent SNR tests during short period will be helpful.
Ive had a quick scan through them, cant see anything in there that would change anything that Ive already said.
-------
Edited to add.. some posts crossed again.
Im not changing this one as Im off to bed now. g'nite :)

>>> oment ago I've edited my post. What is my probable distance from exchange looking at my Hlog?
Just seen another post..
We are beginning to cover old ground again. Hlog is based on attenuation.
Its just an estimate by your router. It cant be taken as gospel and it can vary slightly.

looks like background mush
I don't understand.
As weve said in the past we dont know.. its possibly a 'feature' of your router.
It's not feature of my router. On previous DSLAM I didn't have it after I improved installation in my home. I have it again as my ISP changed DSLAM. I had also it on other router.
-
This grumpy old burakkucat can hear the call of his warm and sleepy spot (his bed) . . . so I'll be brief.
My usage of the phrase 'background mush' was an attempt to provide a description of the generalised background 'white noise' that is present across all radio frequency bands.
What is my probable distance from exchange looking at my Hlog?
I have no idea if such an estimate can be made. :-\
My router shows attenuation either 24.5 dB or 25.0 dB for download and 14.8 dB for upload.
Please don't go back to this topic, yet again. First of all, 24.5 or 25.0 dB can be considered as identical, in the scale of things. So let us use 25 dB DS and 15 dB US.
Having said that, the electrical length between your modem/router and the DSLAM (or MSAN) is 25 dB averaged over the DS frequencies in use and is 15 dB over the US frequencies in use. The physical characteristics of the metallic pathway (the pair of wires in the cable) define how much attenuation occurs at each discrete frequency. My suspicion is that the wire pair between the CPE and the CO (the modem/router and the DSLAM or MSAN) is made up of different lengths of different 'poundage' and each length has different physical characteristics. To be able to say what is the electrical distance between the CPE and CO in terms of units of length (yards, miles, metres, etc) would require knowledge of the characteristics of each and every separate length . . . and then only an approximation could be made.
Making use of the DSL Calculator tab, under the DSL tools tab, at this website (http://hierzo.net/) gives a result of approximately 5945 feet / 1812 metres when the DS average attenuation is used for ADSL2+ mode. Other than that, there is nothing more that I can say.
Perhaps that website's owner would be able to explain things in a more understandable way?
And now the kuro neko plods off to his bed. Good night!

Can we just ban this person? He keeps asking the same questions over and over and ignores all our advice.
I'm fed up with his multiple, identical posts cluttering up the forum. I have tried to ignore it, but it's just ridiculous now!
Edit: I have been informed that you suffer from autism. I did not realise this. If I was at all offensive, I wholeheartedly apologise.
My only defence was that I didn't know. It's not much of a defense, but I thought you deserved to know why I have been somewhat negative towards you recently.

We're going around in circles again :).

I think I don't ask the same questions over and over. The question about disabled tones is new. The question about QLN, Hlog is new.

Both b*cat and I tried to help you as much as we can with regards to the disabled tones, and the only reason we did is because this was a new issue.
All of the previous factors you have brought up have been normal occurrences & variations of adsl. Some things we have tried to explain to the limit of our knowledge.
Your posts have received an awful lot of attention, but it diverts from helping to assist people who have real problems.
Weve also given all the reasons we can for possibility of the tones, but Im afraid that there is nothing that your ISP will be able to do about them if it is radio mush. Weve also suggested if you ask your ISP if they know of any reason if those tones may have been disabled such as for HAM band.
Regretfully I think we have helped you all we can. We have tried to take into account any language or other reasons, but the repetitiveness and fixation on attenuation makes the forum turn into mush itself. That doesnt help other people and it begins to annoy other readers. Not to mention time spent trying to help someone who doesnt have a real problem distracts people from being able to help those that do
Therefore I feel that I must close this topic now, because there really isnt anything more that can be said on any of the subjects you have already brought up. I suggest if you have a real problem you contact your ISP.
Please do not PM any forum members, nor re-start any more posts for topics that have already covered because its becoming annoying.
If you do I shall have no alternative but to place a ban which is something we seldom have to resort to.. but there comes a point when enough is enough.
