Title: Just discovered my NAS has a Log server built-in, its cool!
Post by: Chunkers on March 05, 2016, 02:33:05 PM
I just found my Synology has a log server built into it, which is nice and means I can get all my logs centrally without logging into each device and also can search multiple logs simultaneously, they all update over the network, its cool!

If anyone doesn't know about this and has a Synology NAS then this is what it looks like :

(https://forum.kitz.co.uk/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi43.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe352%2FJolltax%2FCrap%2Flogs_zpsmqckqrsd.png&hash=91a683e19f1ce91911e0faecc7fa519a687ef9f5)

And then once you get it up and running you get something like this :

(https://forum.kitz.co.uk/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi43.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe352%2FJolltax%2FCrap%2Floggy_zpsefu94yhy.png&hash=b605bc74aa93c32800b2aba986247c4960beba35)

You just need to go into each device and enable remote logging and enter the IP and port of your logging server (default is 514)

I had the same pleasant surprise when I got my QNAP NAS.

Also a surprise that it had a web server and MySQL!

Which NAS do you have, and what version firmware are you on?

I have a DS214play, but don't see the same options on mine?
