High, I am wondering what would be the best modem to use on an ECI cabinet instead of openreach as it`s seems a bit outdated, also this would be connected to the Netgear XR500 Router, any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you

I am using a zyxel vmg1312-B10a as of yesterday which just replaced my HG612, there are others in the zyxel range though and most kitz users seem to be using them.

Think I will look in to that then,I currently use vigor 130 but that seems to be stuck at a sync rate of 76, it used to be 79999 so bit strange

I’m currently using a Vigor 130 on a ECI cabinet. Though I am bidding on a Zyxel VMG1312-B10A, mainly just out of curiosity to see if it’s any better on my line. Wouldn’t particularly want to spend the £100+ they seem to be new though.

It is possible to purchase an ISP/CP branded version of the ZyXEL VMG1312-B10A for between £20 to £30 on eBay. The de-branding back to vanilla ZyXEL is quite straightforward . . . just follow the step by step instructions correctly!

Set up a saved search on ebay for 1 they pop up at a decent price once a week or so.
Check the sold prices on them recently to see what they actually go for.
Very very few get sold at £100+

If you're looking to buy brand new and at a reasonable price, then also consider the Netgear DM200 and TP-Link W9970. They're priced around £30 on Amazon. The TP Link uses a decent broadcom chipset (same as the Zyxel model(s)) whilst the DM200 uses a Lantiq VR220, which is also decent.

The W9970 uses the BCM63381 doesn't it? Sure its an ok modem but it doesn't use the BCM63168 that the other Zyxel modems mentioned in this thread do.

That`s my thinking also, Hope you win and if you test in comparison to the vigor could you let me know if you see much difference please.
thanks

I did look at the DM200 , however I was slightly put of by some of the negative feedback on it , Guess I could buy a zyxel off amazon and test it, also great UCL game the other night.
Cheers
