Is anyone using the beta ? If so what do you think ? It feels ok but just looks too much like Google Chrome.

considering it a "chromium" browser it's no surprise it looks like google chrome.

It does mean you can install Chrome extensions from the Google store.

although not officially, as it would prefer you install extensions from the microsoft list of approved extensions.
you have to specifically permit the installation of extensions from elsewhere.

I will try it out.
vivaldi was going to be a migration from chrome for me, until I did more heavy testing on it to discover its massively slower than normal chrome, a lot of flags were disabled and some bugs, however vivaldi the fact it hasnt that enforced horrific autocomplete in the omnibar is definitely very nice for that alone.
I will see what Microsoft have done on their fork.
The thing is unless google back down and see sense I will have to "migrate" soon because chrome is about to start crippling filtering extensions such as ublock origin and umatrix. Browsing the internet unfiltered is akin to going to war without armour.

from what i've read that doesn't seem to be entirely accurate.
ublock origin seem to think that it still be "business as usual" for them.

Has something changed then?

So from reading that, they raised the API limit, but the other restrictions still seem in place. :(
-
"Google increased the maximum limit of the API to 150000 in mid 2019; sufficient for running content blockers with default configurations."
-
yeah that's only a part of the issue, the api itself is still more restricted in what its capable off.

microsoft failed in mobile and most of the things are very buggy and now they try to be apple and google in everything
-
Seems so pointless, if I want a Chromium browser I'd rather use Brave. The rest of the time, I'm happy with Firefox. For my CCTV DVR I annoyingly have to use IE.
-
I like how it signs into my work account profile, no not really.
I do not feel like i'm in control with this version of edge

Even Brave are after your data.
I asked on reddit why Brave doesnt have a offline profile migration like old school browsers did, they have the same system as Chrome except they use their own servers for sync instead of google's. The response was a kind of vague brush off, so like every other vendor they want your data.
