Title: FTTC - Lost 2Mbps download speed
Post by: Samad on December 19, 2017, 02:05:45 PM
I use Samknows to monitor my Broadband connection and have enjoyed 28Mbps download (which is what I would expect given my distance from the street cabinet) until recently.
I have attached a screenshot of my daily download speeds since 1 October to illustrate this and would be pleased if someone could advise what is happening.
In addition I have a BT Smarthub and have noticed that my noise margin has changed from 5.8/3.0 to 5.8/6.0.

This matter has been reported to BT who say that the line is performing within their parameters, and in any event I have a guaranted 20Mbps.

would need more info than this tbh but at a guess perhaps you have been hit by a cross talker or maybe your snr profile has been changed by dlm therfore losing you speed as the snr margin has gone back to 6.0 from the the previous setting of 3?

Sounds like it to me. Assume you are on a huawei cab perhaps ?

I agree with above. Sounds like you were on a 3dB target snrm but DLM has reverted back to 6dB.
The up/down throughput changes could be a number of DLM actions on different days.
Could be a number of reasons DLM has reverted back to 6dB.
Nothing you can do unfortunately the DLM system is 100% automated/hands off. They cant manually change it back to 3dB.
It may try dropping the snrm target again in time if the line remains stable.
