Thats a fair bit of £`s...
A couple of interesting points...
"and will not be offering upgrade product in [that] market, only fully packaged products."
Could prove interesting...will everyone want to pay a load of £`s to switch or will more folks go Linux?

"We will be offering fully packaged product at upgrade prices from the launch to the beginning of next year."

Now me being cynical...is this a way round the EU ruling against M$, simply let the manufacturers install & ship 7 with IE (the makers would install IE of course & not M$), of course there wouldn`t be any pressure on them to do so...would there?

Furthermore, in European Union states, Microsoft will offer "full" copies of Window 7 without Internet Explorer 8 for the price of upgrade editions of Windows 7. Full versions are usually more expensive than upgrade editions, which are designed as a kind of money-off loyalty reward for customers upgrading from older editions of Windows.
Microsoft said it couldn't have offered a retail upgrade version of Windows 7 without IE 8 in time for the official launch on October 22. The company said earlier this month it would deliver Windows 7 in Europe minus IE 8 to satisfy with European antitrust regulators

Looking on Dells website this morning here (https://win7.dell.com/Eligibility.aspx) it seems they are allowing UK users to register for an upgrade to Windows 7 if they purchase a machine with Vista from today till 31 Jan 2010

When I get my discs I will image them and put a few browsers on the disc and burn a working copy, putting the masters away for safe keeping.

According to PC Advisor there will be no upgrade from Vista to Windows 7.
Europeans will not be able to directly upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Microsoft yesterday detailed upgrade paths from old Windows editions to its upcoming Windows 7 OS, and confirmed that UK Vista users will need to do a clean install of Windows 7.

Yes,
This was why they were selling the full versions at cheaper prices.
The current prices for the Full Version will go up to full RRP after December this year :(
Which is why they flew off the shelves so quickly ;)

Not in the EU as they do not have upgrade versions with no browsers only full versions.

Rip-off UK pricing doesn’t even begin to cover it.

We've always had to pay more for software, CDs, DVDs, music, cars, petrol, yada yada :'(

I have paid for good in $ before and got it 1/2 price and it was posted from the UK to me in UK.
