I've been running a genuine W7 system under VirtualBox for some years now and after I installed a couple of updates on it today on rebooting it I get a Not Valid message and now I am unable to validate it online. Anyone any idea how I might do this? Any search on Microsoft says get W10 or W11 neither of which I want or need. I only use this copy of W7 for a couple of things which I cannot do with native Linux.
Apart from upgrade is there any way to validate this system?

If they have killed the activation server then the only legal route is probably via the phone. But that might end up telling you that its out of support.

I don't care about support, I only use it locally not o the Internet. Maybe I'll try the phone.

Have you used the Windows activation diagnostic tool?
