TBH I can see both sides of this.

There will have been plenty around her who could have helped steered her in the right direction and probably tried their damndest to keep her clean.

But Scotties Mum makes a very valid point.. there will have been plenty around who continued to tempt her and didnt care either way about her welfare.  The fact that Rehab was made was down to her producer and the record industry supported it what message does that give.. yeah that its fine to carry on the way you are.

Razpeg is also right that she did have access to help..  but believe me I know first hand the perils of drugs... seeing a friends life destroyed when I was in my early 20's and more recently another person who I was very close to tied up in addiction.

You can try all you like, it drains you trying to help them and weakens you too.. and even though the addicted may deep in their hearts want to come off..  theres always someone else around waiting to tempt them back on the path to destruction, when they have the slightest moment of weakness.  I hate class A/B drugs with a vengeance because I see what its done to them and how it turns them into a different person.

At the end of the day we all are entitled to our own opinions.. so please play nice..  and no squabbling amongst ourselves.

Edited to add.

Eric must have locked this whilst I was making my own reply.

Its a shame this convo could not have continued because its a top news story right now and therefore worthy of discussion.  Everyone has a right to their own opinions and no doubt there will be times when our opinions differ from someone else, but please dont let it get personal.

I can't say that I was a fan of her music but I do feel for the family at this sad time.

I wonder if deep down she couldn't handle the fame as a lot of pop stars have also resorted to booze and drugs ?

It was reported on the news that on her last gig, she was heckled and booed on stage as she got her lyrics mixed up amongst other lapses.

Perhaps this could have been a contributory factor if she took it to heart ?

p.s. I've just used wikipedia and after reading the profile information, she really was a mixed up character

It's a real waste of a life, not to mention talent, even though I am not a fan of her music.

27 is way too young to die  :(

Unfortunately the industry is synonymous with drugs and alcohol.. its so easily available to them.

Really bad case of nerves before a show?
Here you go, just take a sniff of this.. it will perk you up and you'll perform so much better.

Tired after a long gig?
Here you go... just take a lil of this, it will make you feel better and you'll be able to party a bit longer.

Ooops now you cant unwind?
Try some of this it will help you relax.

and so the circle begins... and despite what 'they' say.. it doesnt make you perform better its all in the mind at first.. until the addiction sets in.

I should image the heckling at her last concert was because of her past addiction. because it does have an adverse effect in the end. which can also induce paranoia + schizophrenia/bipolar tendencies depending on what she took.. so no doubt she will have took it to heart.. and perhaps turned to 'something else' to make her feel better.

Anyhow I best get off my soapbox.  Ive said my bit.
Im far from an expert and who knows what really happened :(

I feel deeply for her family and true friends, they will have gone through hell with her over the past few years.  A sad waste of a young life and talent.
