Best Router with Tweakable SNR and Good at low SNR
« on: April 16, 2011, 03:08:04 PM »

I am looking for a router with a tweakable SNR and a router that is good at a low SNR. I have already tried the Thomson Speedtouches and I couldn't get them to downgrade so not any Thomsons.

What would you reccomend?

Apart from recent Thomson/Speedtouch firmwares, most Broadcom-based routers can be tweaked. Netgear DG834GT and DG834Gv4 (must be v4) and DGN2000 are examples. Also the D-Link 2740B.

Which of the ones you have listed would you say are the best?

I have just put a bid in on a Netgear DG834GT.

It's impossible to say which is best, because it varies from line to line. But the DG834GT is a good workhorse.

But (and I should have said this before) you seem to have a problem with your connection (it could be interference, a line fault, or internal wiring) and you really need to resolve this before tweaking your noise margin and probably making the connection more unstable.
