forwarding emails
« on: March 08, 2011, 03:13:58 PM »

Is it possible to forward emails containing photos that are on average 2.5 mb in size?

There are six or 7 pics with each email, with longish text explaining the photos.

I have already made a Powerpoint slide show from them but that is more than 42 mb, I suppose I could compress the PP but I'm not famiiar with that yet.

Answers suitable for a  :baby: please.  :-[

Peter,     before I forward photos by e-mail  I resize them ......   highlight the photos you want to send  .....  use Ctrl. and left click to highlight several at once.   When you have them highlighted, right click on one and choose  Resize Pictures.  A small box will open.  Choose the  small size and click OK.  You will then have a copy of your photos but in a smaller size.  You can then insert these into your Email to send.

Are the pictures saved as JPGs? If so, you can almost certainly reduce them in size quite a bit. A postcard-sized photo wouldn't normally be larger than about 200 kB or so. If they are saved in another format, just converting them to JPGs will reduce the file size quite considerably.

Hi,

Thanks I had already made smaller sized ones, I'd hoped there may be a way to send each email in reduced size so I didn't have to re type all the text.

In my :baby: status I very shyly mention Dropbox and Windows Messenger file transfer.

They were suggested to me in PC Advisor,

Just upload them and send links in Email then your friends can download them.

I use this site quite often:
http://www.sendspace.com/

You do not need to enter an Email address for you or friends.

Or use a photo hosting site like:
http://photobucket.com
http://imageshack.us

Good suggestion from BritBrat.

Or, as an alternative, download and instal the free Faststone image resizer in which you can batch resize and save before attaching to your mail......resize a copy and keep the original as was..

Get it from http://www.faststone.org/download.htm  .......(4th. item down)

Or, while you are that link, download the complete Faststone suite...great for image viewing and tweaking...and free.
