n their own engineer to visit the exchange which is now booked for Monday.

Update.

A BT Openreach engineer arrived up at her house, fitted what sounded like a new NTE5a (will have to check next time Im there).  Then said she should have nettage in about 1/2 hr when he got back to the exchange.   Sure enough about 30 mins later her router sync'd.

Bit surprised at BT doing a home visit , but as she said, it could be in view of past conversations and her throwing a hissy fit about the apparent poor service and length of time it was taking.

She did thank you eric, although Ive yet to go for a visit to check how its performing etc :D :D

I think I was just very surprised that they sent a BTo engineer round basically to do an install.  Unusual because afaik and certainly in the past they normally use 'their own' engineers/subcontractors to hook up to their MSAN once BTw have disconnected from their loop.  There wasnt any reason I could think of that needed a home visit, but the very nice Mr BTo man put them in what Im assuming was a new NTE5a..  and even put it in a slightly more convenient location even though there was no need and all FoC.

The major gripe with FMP Sky LLU is the length of time it takes them to sort things out.  They actually seem to take longer than TT which is saying something :(

Just had a read...  the one thing that surprised me, and something I'd never even been aware of before (Ive been out of the loop for a while)

"Sky do not allow phone number migration back to BT if you take their line rental."

I can imagine that upsetting some...  take my parents who have had the same phone number for about 40 years...  and its a 'really nice' phone number.

@kitz - I guess Sky are a candidate for prosecution by the EU and Ofcom:

Quote
Obligations imposed on a communications provider to provide number portability to its subscribers and to provide portability to other communications providers are set out in General Condition 18 ("Number Portability"). Ofcom has got powers to enforce any breach of that Condition under sections 94 to 103 of the Act. Civil liability for breach of that Condition could also arise, but Ofcom must first give a consent for the bringing of such civil proceedings under section 104 of the Act.

Peter
