DG834G v5 and DGTeam
« on: August 10, 2010, 11:46:45 AM »

Hi

Does anyone know if the DGTeam firmware will work on a v5 DG834G? I need the snr tweak and it will be on a longish line.  Or is the v4 better?

Thanks

There isn't any DGTeam firmware for DG834Gv5. It uses a different chipset from the v4 (Broadcom for the v4, Conexant for the v5) and I don't believe that there's any known way to tweak the noise margin on the v5. The general consensus is that the v4 is a better performer, and it is tweakable.

If you're buying one make sure it IS a V4, earlier versions are different again.
Or just get a DG834GT.

GT is GT, no versions.
Except non-standard firmware like the Sky ones, but they "can" be unlocked and reflashed.

Johnny

I will second what HP has just said to you - I have just recently got myself a Sky based DG834GT from Amazon.

It was locked down to Sky's network, but I used the advice on here to unlock and flash it to Netgear's normal firmware.

From here, I flashed the DGTeam firmware version 1012 on there - all now running and connected to O2.

HTH.

Any queries, please reply back and ask.

Regards

GT and Gv4 are the same except for the 108mbps wireless in the GT.
