Re: Thomson 585v7. I dont have a padlock next to my connection???

The missing padlock is certainly a bit odd, but if you've got the router configured to use WPA, and you have to enter a pass phrase to access it, then it would seem to be secured.

I wonder if it has anything to do with Windows 7 since that is the OS.

What about Mac filtering?

Firewall, Block all or standard???

Any advice greatfully received.

I might be wrong but I thought that the padlock only showed on a WPA-secured broadcast.

So if it's set to WEP, you would still need to key in the code to access it.

It is set to WPA+WPA2.

I have just returned from having another look at it.

Makes no sense to me, there is no padlock, but when I try to connect it does ask me for the key.

Just as a further check, you could download (free) inSSIDer.....for peace of mind :fingers:

When this scans for wireless networks it shows the security level applicable on each SSID it detects.

They are the same colour as the small wireless icon.

In the case of my phone, white.

Perhaps crossed wires; when I was asking the colour of the wireless light it was with reference to the WLAN LED light on top of the TG585v7.
