1. When Hibernate or Standby buttons are grey, then removing and installing the graphic driver is the first option to try in order to resolve the problem.
2. Back to dumppo.exe
Reboot and ensure the minsleep mode remains at S3.
1. That could have been because what I think was a left-over piece of the old ATI software "causing a conflict"
At the time I just happened to be in msconfig when I noticed the message "ATI waiting to close" & "Nvida waiting to start" (The card was changed from a ATI Radeon to Nvidia) Now that the original problem seems to have been resolved, I think I see another format and re-install happening very soon.
2. RE dumppo.exe
Yes, the settings have been retained, just waiting to see what happens now.
Although I may possibly have to find out which program/s are running in the background that stop it from going into Standby mode "and staying there"
****
Well it's
gone went into standby with a power consumption showing as (I'm going to have to say, less than 10watts "because the last digit on my LED readout is faulty and not displaying properly")
NO, I take that back,
it's just woke up.
I think it will be something I am going to have to live with, at least for the time being.
Thanks for all the advice, it has been much appreciated.
PS:
These 2 problems are on separate PC's, so are not related to one another.
