For those who do online banking - the URLZone trojan problem

For those who do online banking, take note of this ...
http://news.cnet.com/8301-27080_3-10363836-245.html

Then take a look at www.trusteer.com and assess their Rapport consumer product.  This hardens the browser (IE and FF3 under WinXP or later).  I use it.

Can you afford not to?

Hey, that report is very worrying indeed. But like you Hake, I also use that Rapport program, which was recommended by my bank. Just have to be extra careful I guess.

Not sure it would work with my bank. In my case you dont logon with a user and password but have a calculator like device and use your debit card to create a unique 8 digit security code which is different for each login. It can also be used to validate transactions with a unique code for each one. Certainly this Rapport site does not list my bank.

Trusteer's support team has given me confirmation that Rapport protects against the URLZone trojan.

For more information on Rapport, go to the following: -
http://www.trusteer.com/the-problem
http://www.trusteer.com/solution

Rapport bestows improved security even when numeric codes are supplied by the owner of a secure site independently of the internet.   Rapport protects the browser from subversion by malware and it appears that the URLZone trojan is a threat that is present regardless of the method of authenticating access to the secure site.

I certainly would not do online banking without the protection of Rapport.
