As soon as that mail is downloaded to the local machine, and then if you try to open any nasties..
As Avast does does not appear to be the cause of my problems (on 2 PC's) I don't think I like the idea of possibly having to wait to open a email to find out if it contains a virus or not before running the virus check, so have since reverted back to Avast.
Although Avira may initially appear to have a more comprehensive menu, most of it "for me at least" is unwanted, so I can't see any significant plus point over Avast.
