Am I the only sceptic with a calculator? I was sat sitting this morning, as you do when you get up, AND before you say owt, No I don’t have my calculator with me in the bathroom.

Take this situation. Haulage firm who can claim VAT back.
HGV lorry with two 45 gallon diesel tanks = 410 litres when filled.
Diesel at 113.9p/ltr

Pre budget:
Full tank inc VAT     £467.00p
Full tank ex VAT      £397.44p

Post budget
Full tank inc VAT    £467.00p   ( because duty will have been increased to replace loss from VAT)
Full tank ex VAT     £406.09p

An increase of £8.65p per full tank of fuel.

Haulage costs will increase so prices at the shops will increase.

NOW, if an item that cost
£100.00p + VAT @17.5% = £117.50p
is increased in price because of haulage charges to
£102.17p + VAT @ 15% = £117.49p   ???

I refer you to my third post in the thread Dave ;)

18.5% VAT will be the next move but by then Neu Liebour will have engineered something to stay in power.

Like for example utilising the 2004 Civil Contingencies Act which is an enabling act, which I'm sure we're all aware gives the govt the ability to change the law without a vote or debate in parliament. Not that there's any meaningful debate in that house of criminals these days :(

I really don't believe that Neu Liebour will go without a fight, and by fight I do mean direct action up to and including violence.

Remember where you read it first peeps ;)

What gets me about all this is that on one hand the govt say that these are "exceptional circumstances" (a phrase I note the EU have started using today) but on the other hand the govt's projected figures indicate that the recession won't be as bad as the one in the early 1990s* They are in fact saying that the UK economy will grow again in 2010 - they are depending on that for if it doesn't then my kids will be paying off this debt when they are my age!

They're lying, but why? I note that the useless BBC (Robinson & Preston should be sacked for being sycophants) can't even pick up on discrepancies as basic as this, whereas even the Guardian are getting suspicious now.

I sound like a Tory. I'm not, but it is impossible for anyone with even slightly above average intelligence to contemplate supporting Neu Liebour, what with their mismanagement of the economy, their 3000+ new laws - all removing civil liberties one by one, their illegal wars.......

*which was a walk in the park compared to the 1980s recession - the 1990s one affected SE England whereas the 1980s didn't. I barely noticed the 1990s "recession".....
