Monday 20th Chat
« on: October 20, 2008, 07:40:59 AM »

Morning everyone

Had a lovely red sky here this morning before it got really light, great to see.  Isn't it, "Red sky in the morning......shepherds hut still alight?"   ;)

Hope you all have a good day today, I'm at hospital (ugh, yuk, ugh) so not looking forward to that.

Hope the weather is reasonable where you are and no more rain for poor old TD, his feathers must be sopping wet by now (amongst other things!).

Mornin Chrissie/all,windy and raining here.Forecast doesn't look too good for TD land, wonder if he's thought about flying south for the winter.Talking of flying south, the other day we saw a massive 'v' formation of geese which looked liked the were off migrating somewhere. It was an amazing site and the noise(even for me who is deaf)was to say the least noisy. We saw the same thing the next day.Someone told me they have practice runs to get their strength up before they do the long haul,is that true?Where have they come from and where do they go?Do they go to Spain?
Hope the hospital goes ok Chrissie, you must have a season ticket

Morning, hope you are all fine and dandy today.

Enjoy ( ;D ) the hospital trip chrissie, (TD begins to think that you have your eye on one of the doctors  ;) )

Red sky, good for you.............ours is just grey. Really wet and windy overnight but the rain has passed by and now it is quite sunny but still very breezy.

A skein of geese flying over is a wondeful sight, unkyUb.........which direction are they flying ?

TD has thought of flying south to the place in Spain for the winter but really does not feel well enough to do the trip.........too old for that sort of thing now. It will have to go.  :(

Have a good day.  :)

Afternoon all.

When I lived in North London I was under a regular commuting route for geese, and frequently saw them twice a day. In the morning they flew out of London in a north-easterly direction, and in the evening they returned. I presume that they spent the night in Regents park or somewhere like that. I never got tired of the sight of them in their beautiful formation.

Stuck in an exchnage while waiting for a repair to complete on line, for the 2nd time today >:( frustrating, and with a half hour wait listening to "your call is moving up the que, please continue to hold" over and over...... ???

Speaking of migrating birds. I remember reading in new scientist magazine how Pigeons in london have spotted "commuting" reguarly on the underground. Apparently they'll nest in one area, get on the train at the local station and regardless of any attempts to shoo them off they'll stay in the carrage and get off the same stop each day.

Were the native North American pigeons not known as "Passenger Pigeons"  :D

(Hope the b*****s paid their fare, or Boris will be upset. )
