Is this the best speed my line can handle?
« on: October 22, 2008, 10:04:10 PM »

Hi, i got activated to O2 broadband on the 16th of October 2008. My speeds have been going up and down a bit. I used to use extension cables and my router used to sync at 4meg and when i connected the router to the test socket the router synced at 6.7meg. However, overnight it has resynced to 5.7meg. I phoned o2 and asked them what was wrong and the adviser told me that my line is still going through DLM and so i should wait 4 more days and then restart my router to see if it syncs higher.

So you do guys think my router will sync a lot higher than 5.7meg after DLM is over?

Here are my router stats:

(note that the upstream SNR was 6.0 but has been going up and down quite a bit; i was told this is normal during DLM)

Hi Rahat and welcome to the forum.

i have almost identicle stats to you (with sky)  and I syc at 6.9.  I've tried removing extensions and used the test socket but it didn't move the speed at all.

Max download speed is 5.5mbs which is ok i suppose.

Hi Rahat.

It's quite normal for interference to increase at night, so that the router reconnects at a lower speed. This doesn't indicate anything wrong, and it's nothing to do with DLM; the router won't connect at a higher speed when "DLM is over" because DLM is a continuing process.

You might be able to get a somewhat better connection speed if you have a read of these pages.
