Hue/ZigBee/Ikea

(1/1)

Evening All

IKEA is to release new smart sensors in the UK (already released in the EU), which look very appealing: they operate in zigbee 3.0 and are powered by AAA batteries, which should be better for the environment.

Although I have a hue bridge (still sitting the box), I wanted to ask the respected community whether I could use it to operate those sensors, or whether the IKEA bridge is needed. In other words: what's your experience of mixing Zigbee tech by different manufacturers?

Thank you.

My experience of mixing Hue and non-Hue kit on a Hue bridge is one smart plug by INNR. It works (i.e. is controllable) but I would need an INNR hub to get any firmware updates for it. I haven’t since bothered any further with trying to mix manufacturers kit!
