I originally had

2==   1*3=3
3==   2*4=8
4==   3*5=15
5==   4*6=24

but your way works too, so the floor is yours :)

OK, Ill try  :)

If you subtract the number of bits in 20Mb from the number of bits in 80Mb what are you left with?

I keep looking and looking at this.
Double checking the capitalisation. Making sure I'm not mixing bits and bytes. Double checking the words.  Double checking the sentence. Wondering if there is a reason for the embolden text.  Thinking what am I missing?

Logic tells me 80Mb - 20Mb = 60Mb

-------------------------------

But just to make sure, lets try the long way:
1 Megabit = 1,000,000 bits

20Mb = 20,000,000 bits
80Mb = 80,000,000 bits
80,000,000 - 20,000,000 = 60,000,000

60,000,000 bits = 60Mb

That answer is an answer, but not the one I was looking for.

I did make this puzzle up myself, and not tested on anyone before, so may be a bit (pun intended) cryptic. It will take a certain kind of character to solve it.

The answer wouldn't be 60Mb x 8 = 480Mega bits would it ?

My thought processes have been pretty much the same as kitz's. I'm wondering if "the number of bits" is key here.

So, forgetting the Mb, is the answer 60 million ?

I think I covered the 60 million too and it definitely shows lower case Mb for Megabits so can't be x 8 for MegaBytes MB.

80,000,000 - 20,000,000 = 60,000,000 (bits)

so may be a bit (pun intended) cryptic. It will take a certain kind of character to solve it.

I suspected there was more to it than 80-20, hence the hesitation in making a reply.  I read it many times over to see if I could spot the clue and why you had put the 20 and 80 in bold.  I even read it aloud to see if I could spot the pun.
As 4candles says, I too think number of bits may be a clue.

Completely wild guesses now coming up just for the sake of elimination ...

If you subtract the number of bits in 20Mb from the number of bits in 80Mb what are you left with?

There is only 1 'bit' in the spoken word Mb.  Which would leave you with 1-1= 0.
The word 20Mb has 0 bits.  0-0=0

PS
the Pun "bit cryptic" was clever.
Is "character" another clue.. as in keyboard chars.

Well done Kitz you got the answer correct, I will give it to you  :)

The text 20Mb and 80Mb both have the same number of characters therefore the same number of bits when using ascii, ie 4x8=32 bits, 32 - 32 = 0, ie left with zero.

Apologies if a bit too abstract, but you did get it, over to you again.

Phew got there in the end.   :)

OK I'm also going off on a tangent with this one, but its a bit of fun that shouldnt be too taxing.
It's something that cropped up on my newsfeed yesterday from a Louisiana Emergency room doctor Nick Pappas.

I found it quite amusing that Buzz Lightyear came out quite well on the x-ray - once you had turned it upside down.   The big clue was "To infinity and beyond". I dont even want to think about how it got up there though.   :-\

The youngest brother is Seven.

How old is the oldest brother.?

This one is deliberately designed to be ambiguous.
It is supposed to make some people to ask more questions; such as what if there are twins or triplets?

However if we ignore the possibility of multiple births and jump straight into the maths,
a large percentage of people will jump to the wrong answer conclusion and say 21 having used the formula: 7+(7*2)= 21
The correct answer to the mathematics is 19: ie 7+(6*2) = 19.

Finally,  note the deliberate capitalisation of Seven indicating a proper/naming noun  Thus it could be that the youngest brothers name is Seven...  in which case it isnt possible to calculate the eldest brothers age, when we don't know the age for any of them.

I would have accepted 19 as the correct answer but given a bonus point if anyone mentioned about the brother's name.
As the more cryptic brain teasers bombed give me a while to try and come up with something else.

I'm not 100% certain on the answer for this as its a puzzle image that I made up  That is very close. but not quite the answer I'm expecting.

btw for the sake of clarification this isnt intended to be a trick question.
Ive only included squares as being those with equal length sides - not quadrilaterals or rectangles that have for example 2x1 sides/

eta
The image is far from unique and gives the same answer I was anticipating.
