Can I enquire, what DNS servers are you using?

I would have thought the standard default BT ones, don't think there is a way to change using the standard kit. Could this be a goer though with a 3rd party modem and router?

With a third party modem and router you could choose whatever DNS you wanted, different DNS lookup could reduce some latency.

Surely (providing the ISP doesn't block it) you can set whatever DNS you want on the device and bypass the DNS in the router so what that is set to is irrelevant?

Had another visit from OR today who did the usual tests and said line fine but interleaved. Also said the whole cabinet was interleaved to a certain extent? :S Looks like the DLM reset performed last week didn't work or go through then contrary to what I was told.

Suggested I connect my router to the master socket with a filtered face plate for the best possible connection in case there's an issue with the cable running from the master to the 1st extension which would be difficult to diagnose or replace.

At a complete loss now, suppose just wait now until FTTP or move house  ???

I’m forgetting without going back through is the interleave that’s affecting your use of the service ?

I can probably live with the speed reduction as only 6 Mbps lower than the max I've seen it (although a 10% reduction overall) it's the high latency I'm struggling with which is making working from home hard work.

Going to borrow a 3rd party router later so I can use my HG612 and see what's exactly going on with the stats.

How high is latency ? I only have a 20mbps connection x 2 and 20ms but no issues with home work and VPN etc.

A DLM reset won't take a line off interleaving. It applies interleaving by default.
Once upon a time a DLM reset put a line on an open profile but it hasn't for a couple years at least.

It's only in the days after a DLM reset that Interleaving will be removed and only if errors are sufficiently low enough.

It's 70 - 80 ms if not higher at times. Plays havoc with the software I use for work due to a slight delay on commands. When the connection has synched at the attainable it's as low as 5 or 6 ms

Low interleaving adds exactly 8ms to your latency.

That's definitely not interleaving causing that, it could be some other intermittent problem on the line that causes it sync lower in the first place though.

Can you perform a traceroute to the server you are connecting to for work in order to see if perhaps its even happening somewhere else along the way?

There's definitely some sort of interleaving on line as confirmed by OR engineer today. Discrepancy between syn and attainable and high latency confirms. Trying to configure HG612 this evening to sort out some stats but not exactly going to.plan

Not saying there isn't, but it can't add 54ms of latency if I'm reading what you've said correctly.

Trying to connect up a HG612 and router to view more stats but not going to plan to view wirelessly using wan cable only. Watch this space
