I wonder how long it will be before they start in your area also?

The money-spinning fines have already raked in £12,825 for the city council from the pilot crackdown on the city-bound section of Erdington’s Tyburn Road in north Birmingham.

Well I have to say I wish it happened where I live..... being on a main road our front garden gets covered in ciggy butts and people stop outside and empty their ashtrays into the gutter!!!  It's still litter isn't it.... like people throwing fish and chip paper etc etc... it's all litter and if the cig butts ended up in a pile in front of everyone's gate or on their garden I think there would be complaints.... so IMHO.... it's the right way to go.  Pity it's put as though it's only for money making (which in most cases fines are I guess) but there has to be some sort of limit on littering even if it is ciggy butts.

And just to put a cat among the pigeons "so to speak" the one I would like to see them introduce, is with all the bus tickets around bus stops, yes, the ones people throw away as soon as they leave the bus. (or is it the tram)
Not forgetting there are ticket bins on all busses.

I quite agree with you OF...... not only do we get the cig butts but the bus tickets too cos the bus stop is just a few doors away

Litter is a wretched nuisance everywhere. I remember reading a little while back that one of the RSPB reserves has to employ people specially to clear up litter left outside its gate from a nearby Macdonalds.
