Is the VMG running the latest firmware [1.00(AAKL.28)C0] as it might be worth updating if not.

I suspect that you will need to log into the GUI of the VMG8924-B10A as "supervisor".

I'll have another try at fining the supervisor password , it was lock to John Lewis but I updated the firmware and it's showing more option in the maintenance settings now so may have more luck this time  :fingers:

Assuming that's the Broadband Idle Timeout you are referring to then it's set to 5 mins on my VMG8924 and always has been. It isn't what is causing your wireless issue I'm afraid.

I did discover the timeout only kicks in if it's set to manual connection , it's up and running now with updated firmware so far the wifi is behaving  :fingers: only problem is it's connected at ADSL2+ which isn't good on my long line but not sure how to make only connect ADSL2 . Anyone know ? Thanks for the help :)

On a plus note the interleaving has gone from 380 down 8 up to 4 down and 8 up :) but the sycn is lower ( could that be the ADSL2+ ? )

Network Setting > Broadband > Advanced (tab) is the place you'll be able to disable ADSL2+

I would consider enabling all those apart from Annex M, not that it will make any difference at all. I’m just being stupid. PhyR upstream would be brilliant. So would PTM over ADSL2 but I don’t believe that anyone supports it unfortunately. It’s a just-in-case, or in hope, thing.

I’m like you, and so was Burakkucat, who gave me the idea of going ADSL2-only and disabling ADSL2+, exactly as shown. I have extremely long copper lines, ~7.3 km / ~4.55 miles, and I think Burakkucat’s advice was excellent. Tests show that it wasn’t effective in my particular case, for reasons unknown, even though I have the same modem as Burakkucat.

I made that change in the web UI, saved the config file and then loaded the config file into each one of my modems after running a program I wrote in order to make customised copies of the config per modem. This is because I need to set up the admin UI of each modem to listen at a unique IPv4 address per the individual modem, so my program creates an individualised per-modem edited copy of a master config XML file.

Thanks for that info Weaver , I'm going to give it a few days to see how it goes before making any changes . I'll but the Billion stats up before the change over and the Zyxel stats , first one Zyxel second Billion 7800n
