DLNA does not seem to work and when file sharing set to public I still have to enter username and password. Speeds over USB3 seems very slow, any ideas please?

Speeds being slow is likely normal, routers have very weak CPUs and storage IO is very CPU intensive.

The VMG3925 has USB 2.0 ports, 400mhz dual core cpu, 128mb RAM, 128mb Flash:

You may prefer to use something else for DLNA and File Sharing
