Foxit Reader foxed up and intruding PDF Element

(1/2) > >>

renluop:
Over some years I have used Foxit and its forum, but recently there have been periods of down time. Today I tried to open two PDF attachments to email, but they opened by PDF Element, which I do not have installed. This does not allow me to adjust visible size with Ctrl +/-, as did Foxit.
All seems odd and has perhaps gone under and been taken over by PDF element?
Is anyone with ear to ground on this, or can suggest a reason for the oddness, please? Else it seems I may be looking for a new reader. :(

banger:
I'm still using Foxit Reader 5.0 on Windows 10, works fine and Edge/Firefox for general pdf reading.

I said I had not installed PDF Element, but found it installed under Wondershare.
It has now been removed.
Now, whereas opening the PDF attachments in the email would take me directly to the reader, it opens with MS Edge. The only way to use Foxit appears to be detach, then use "Open with" option

If you are using an e-mail program like Outlook or Thunderbird there is normally a list of attached file types under Options and the program that will open them.  You have the option to edit the program used and would be able to reset from Edge to Foxit.

If you are opening from web-mail (and assuming you are on a modern version of Windows) you can go to Settings > Apps > Default Apps then scroll down to the link for "Choose default applications by file type".  Click on that, scroll down the list to .pdf and edit it to the program of your choice.
