The source for the above report from Techradar is Bloomberg's article ;
Sixty-Week Delay on Router Orders Shows Scale of Chip CrisisThere's a bit more info in there about the 'crisis', but it implies that Zyxel have been having supply problems for just over a year and asking ISPs to order up to a year in advance.... so who knows if perhaps they have a batch on order - even though they currently using Fritzboxes.
Despite the shortage in chips and the supply problems (not helped with Suez blockage*) Zyxel shares have risen by 181%. So the stockmarket tends to think its going to push prices high.
*All rather strange, Ever Green was stuck for how long - 4 days?
It then took another few days to get traffic moving through the canal and clear the backlog, so we're talking of just over a week, and not a permanent delay at that. Surely it's a
drop in the ocean when you're talking 60 weeks! UK warehouses are currently holding more than double the usual inventory. Reminds me a bit of the covid loo roll panic buying.
