Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but as I have just won one of these on Ebay, has anyone requested the source code for the XMG3927-B50A: https://www.zyxel.com/form/gpl_oss_software_notice.shtml

Arrived,

made request for sourcecode, it's in a KCOM box
model number XMG3927-B50A-GB01V1F

Anyone want an unboxing or a dismantling, as it cost me £30

Well this seems a rabbit hole, there's a remote code execution vulnerability for a firmware version 5 revisions higher than what is on the zyxel ftp: https://www.zyxel.com/support/Zyxel-security-advisory-for-remote-code-execution-and-denial-of-service-vulnerabilities-of-CPE.shtml

I have seen a few KCOM branded ones on eBay recently around the £30 mark. I was going to pick one up to help diagnose a fault but I just used the Openreach modem instead. Seems a good bargain anyway, even more so if you need a G.fast modem.

I have skimmed your other thread about the vulnerability and I think it is disappointing that the FTP server has not been updated with the latest firmware since I have been checking that every now and again for months, as that's where I would expect it to be. I have requested the firmware so hopefully I will get that very soon. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Most browsers have dropped ftp, its really annoying.

Oh okay, C0 releases are general release aka stable, betas end with the character b1, b2, b3 etc.

Looks like Zyxel may have tweaked the modem code slightly for G.Fast in the new firmware.
On my line everything on the stats is pretty much identical except ACTUAL INP.
The downstream remains the same (at 640 symbols) but upstream goes from 607 symbols with V5.13 to 676 symbols with V5.17

Tweaked for better or worse?

No idea, my line has always been stable & I get full capped speed, perhaps someone who doesn't get the max. speed has noticed a difference?
