I haven't seen them mentioned in any Openreach documentation for a few years. I haven't seen any in the wild or read anyone else saying they had 1.
They were designed so you could quickly flick a switch and use your internal wiring with a VOIP service without sending that signal back down the incoming pair and in to the Openreach network
Seems like they might have ditched them. They certainly seen seem not to exist.
I've had an eBay saved search for VRI faceplate for 3-4+ years and none have ever appeared.
AAISP made a guide on how to convert your existing master socket to do the same thing.

The simplest and cleanest method, for those who know what they are doing, is to disconnect the incoming pair from the back of the NTE5.

Not if you have Digital Voice over FTTC

In that case I would disconnect the extension wiring and transfer it to a LJU1/3A, LJU2/3A or a LJU3/3A.

I'd just crimp the extension wiring into an RJ11. Personally I've been DECT for years so just switched to an N300 IP instead.
