Hi all,
I was wondering if I should replace my BT HH5. It keeps rebooting every 10-12 days without any reason and my download speed has been around only 56Mb despite the sync speed has been always near 799xx Kb. The current line stat is as below and you can see it just restarted 3 days ago.
1. Product name:   BT Home Hub
2. Serial number:
3. Firmware version:   Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.236.1.2 (Type A) Last updated 10/07/17
4. Board version:   BT Hub 5A
5. DSL uptime:   3 days, 15:08:34
6. Data rate:   19978 / 79903
7. Maximum data rate:   33973 / 99964
8. Noise margin:   14.2 / 11.4
9. Line attenuation:   5.7 / 6.3
10. Signal attenuation:   5.5 / 6.3

Thanks in advance.

I know that one of the BT HH5s is prone to spontaneously reboot and, thus, is not a reliable device. Never having used one, I am unsure if it is the HH5A or the HH5B that is afflicted.  :-\

Looking at the minimal statistics that the device provides I can see nothing out of the ordinary . . . It appears that you are very close to the PCP & Fibre twin pair of cabinets and are "hitting the upper end stop" of the Openreach 80/20 Mbps product (with plenty "in reserve").

Are you trying speed tests in a wired state?

Visit https://windows.mouselike.org/be/index.asp?DoAction=BrasChecker
Enter your BT number and paste the results (removing your number from any results of course).

Thanks. I've just done the test and the result is
The current Downstream BRAS rate is: 77.34 Mbps
The current Upstream BRAS rate is: 20 Mbps.

It's strange as I can only get 56Mbps on speedtest.net

I've used both A and B variants of the HH5 and they seem to reboot every 14 days approx irrespective of line conditions. I seem to remember a thread on one of the BT forums about it.

That just rules out IP profile issues.

Can you run the speed test here:
https://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest

Run the test with an Ethernet cable, NOT over WiFi.

Hi John,
With your great help my new router zyxel vmg3925 is up and running now. Unfortunately, my download speed is still lower than 60Mbps and upload lower than 10Mbps, despite the dsl info gives a complete different result. So my IP profile is correct, line rate is correct but I just cannot get the full download speed. I'm so confusing...

Have you tried using a different laptop/PC to make sure that isn't the bottleneck? After that there's nothing else at your end you can do/check.
Sounds like something that needs diagnosed by your ISP.

On the plus side, a nice boost in snrm & max attainable from the Zyxel on both downstream/upstream.
