I took a look at an area of Hull where FTTP was rolled out this summer, and you can see some differences to the BT methods.
Attached is a photo of a DP, part way up a telegraph pole. Just above the metal cable protector, it is only just out of reach! This wasn't a one-off ... every pole has the fibre DP positioned like this. Positioned, seemingly so that splicing is done at a relatively low height.
From this DP, there is a bundle of individual cables that runs up the pole, diverges either side of the existing copper DP, and onto the sprung tensioners.
