Is this actually affecting your normal usage? With that level of loss the experience should be awful.

Yes. Yesterday when I got home I could not do anything even though the modem was synced and the router had a valid session with sky dhcp etc..

It died again first thing but is back but I see packet loss starting again

Sky say hands are tied as OR cant find a fault. Sky told me the backhaul is all bt for fibre stuff so they cant check servers or anything else. See what today brings..

I know you said the Zyxel was fine previously then perhaps some setting(s) has been accidently switched on/off? I remember there were tons of settings on the VMG8324 when i used it in bridge mode.

FWIW when i went from HG612 modem to the same Zyxel modem in bridge mode, I noticed many red spikes appearing on my TBB monitor (though not as bad as yours) as well as increased error rates...i went back to the HG612 almost immediately and the errors disappeared. I suggest you try out an alternative modem, such as the ECI or Draytek 130 to rule out the modem. If no luck, then try a different router preferably the Sky supplied router. I have a strong suspicion it might be your hardware at fault despite not having issues before on the same setup.

Possiby. I have a spare 8324 so will try it later. I have already reset the 87u and set it up from scratch. Might try a modem swap tonight. It was a recent new one already on there so hope that is not failing

So do you get high error rates on the dsl connection? FEC/CRC/ES wise?

skyeci did you put in the sr102 as I suggested? its a pain but sky wont help you without that in place anyway.

the sr102 can still be used as router only behind a modem. I think its lan4 port to plugin from the modem (might be lan1 so try that if 4 doesnt work).

Hi Chrys
Sky have helped as far as they are able. OR have run a load of tests yesterday and seem to think the line is fine.

Wether it will make any difference remains to be seen but they are changing my static as I could not access the net yesterday upon my return even though everything was connected and looked valid.

the fact remains this packet loss issue started 2 days ago and whilst not as bad today it was still there at times..never had an issue before.

My link is off till tomorrow morning whilst they change my ip just in case its just another issue.

Sky have offered me a q hub or I can leave as they dont see any further way to resolve it as Open reach say its all fine.

I will try my spare 8324 & or unlocked eci just to see if the red spikes go away. If not with both tried I guess I need to look at the router.

on it goes...

Well link off overnight. New static ip and my original 8324 in place (bridge mode ).not looking good. So 2 different 8324's tried and both did not have a problem until the issue started this week.
Will swap out ac87u for the sr102 in router mode tonight and see if it goes away. If it does then perhaps my 87u is failing?
The loss at around 06:48 & 8:30am knocked the monitoring upload out as well just now as its left a gap on mdws. Got to be router, cab,or other network issue.

Considering the volume of packet loss, could this be a problem with Sky's LLU (or fibre equivalent) equipment at the exchange? Or at the very least an issue with the port you are connected to? It may be worth asking Sky if they would be willing to try fiddling with the exchange equipment, as if you are seeing this to all websites, that seems to be one of the possibilities that Openreach wouldn't be able to see.

sky are investigating, seeing a possible card fault, warning status - told me to leave it as is for now. Could be a failed card again... - will update later - will still try the sr102 later if this does not get fixed.

thought I best update this. Link came back up on Friday afternoon. Still seeing some packet loss at times. Its better but not as good as it was pre all the trouble. Seems like to me its now consistent packet loss but in small amounts... Was unable to find out at this stage if the card was replaced or just reset... ??? ???

So heres a 24 hour chart. Still seems to be some sort of issue. Sky have said they can not pursue with open reach as they cant detect a fault. They have offered an engineer but will charge if no fault found.

Be interested to hear what others think please. Have tried 2 modems and 2 routers but all display the same issue. Pre the fault last week I had no issues with latency/packet loss
Thanks
