Sometimes what happens is when you have been told you have won a prize you are told to phone a certain (premium) rate number to confirm your winnings.Some people the lure of being told you have won is too great a chance to miss,and before they know it they have racked up £20 0r more via these numbers.

The ones that "fall out" of newspapers and magazines also seem to have some pretty steep premium rate calls too
